Brain Food

I wonder, how often we are too easily pleased by the approval of mere men...

...rather than delighting in God Himself.

"Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with...ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea.

We are far too easily pleased."

-from The Weight of Glory, by C.S. Lewis

I'd never put "the approval of men" in the category of "far too easily pleased" before. And it's so true.

...And you girls should write a book! :)

Amazing that I was just reading and thinking about that as I was looking through the Weight of Glory this evening. Thanks for the reminder -- it's so true.

wowzah, some friends and I were just sharing scripture on this the other day. i think the one that stuck out most was Heb 13:6

blessings ladies
